Minutes of 100 Years Ago

THIS IS AN EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE ALBERT EDWARD LODGE

No. 1714 MEETING HELD AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS, L0NDON ROAD

CAMBERLEY ON WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 27th 1916.

 

PRESENT WERE:           11 OFFICERS ( Including W/M W/Bro. Richardson )

 MEMBERS:                   10

 VISITORS:                     4

 

The Lodge was opened in due form after solemn prayer at 6 p.m.

 The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed by the Brethren present.

Bros. William Charles Squires and Charles William Chedgey were next called to the pedestal and after having given proofs of the progress they had made in the Science were entrusted with the P.G. & P.W, leading from the 1st to the 2nd Degree. They then retired to be prepared for the ceremony of passing.

The Lodge was then opened in the 2nd Degree.   Bros. William Charles Squires and Charles William Chedgey were re-admitted, properly prepared and passed to the Degree of a F.C.   The ceremony of passing being very ably rendered by W.Bro. G.H. Richardson W.M.

W.Bro. W.H. Blackaby D.C. gave a very excellent explanation of the 2nd Degree Tracing Board.   Also the 4th section of the Second Lecture which was fully appreciated by all present.

The W.M. personally thanked W.Bro. Blackaby for his splendid exhibition and also proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to him on behalf of the Lodge.   This was seconded by W.Bro. W.H. Twort and carried unanimously.

A ballot was next taken for a W.M. for the ensuing year and at the conclusion of the ballot it was found to be unanimous in favour of Bro. Robert King   S.W.

Bro. King thanked the Brethren fo the honour and confidence this conferred.

The Lodge proceeded to elect a Treasurer for the ensuing year and on the proposition of W.Bro. Blackaby, seconded by W.Bro. J.J. Appleton,   W. Bro. W.H. Twort was unanimously elected Treasurer. W.Bro. Twort thanked the Brethren.

Bro. R. King S.W. proposed that   Bro. Charles Parrant be elected Tyler for the ensuing year. This was seconded by Bro. H.D. Pyle S.D. and on being put to the Lodge was carried unanimously.

The Following notice of Motion, of which due notice had been given, was then proposed by W.Bro. Appleton, seconded by W/Bro. Blackaby, that a Past Masters Jewel, of the usual pattern and cost, be presented to W.Bro. Richardson W.M. to mark a most successful year of office.   This on being put to the Lodge was carried unanimously.

The following Bro. was then proposed as a joining member.   Bro. Thos. Turner, Contractor, Frogmore, Blackwater. Proposed by   W.Bro. Richardson W.M. seconded by Bro. R. King S.W.

Apologies for non-attendance were received from four Brethren

Nothing further being offered for the good of Freemasonry in general or of this, the Albert Edward lodge, in particular, it was closed after solemn prayer in perfect harmony at   7.45 p.m.
