Minutes of 100 Years Ago
November 1914

THIS IS AN EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE ALBERT EDWARD LODGE MEETING HELD AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS, LONDON ROAD,CAMBERLEY ON WEDNESDAY 24TH NOVEMBER 1914
PRESENT WERE: 10 Officers including W/M W/Bro. W.H. Blackaby
MEMBERS: 12
The Lodge was opened in due form after solemn prayer at 6.20 p.m.
The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed by the Brethren present.
The Lodge was then advanced to the 2nd degree. Bro. W.J. Simmonds called to the P and after having given proof of progress in the science was entrusted with the P.G. & P.W leading from the 2nd to the 3rd degree. The F.C. then retired to be prepared for the ceremony of raising. The Lodge was now advanced to the 3rd degree when Bro. Simmonds was re-admitted properly prepared and raised to the sublime degree of a M.M. The ceremony being impressively rendered by the W.M. The Lodge was then lowered to the 1st degree.
The Secretary then presented the Lodge accounts duly audited , with the reference committees report, and on the proposition of Bro. Lanysdale and seconded by Bro. Foster, report and balance sheet were unanimously adopted.
W.Bro. Kennett P.M. gave a short outline of the work of the charity committees and made a stirring appeal to the Brethren for each to do some little to help forward their work.
W.Bro. Kennett also alluded to the fact that W. Bro. Tew P.M. was very ill and proposed that a letter of sympathy be forwarded from the Lodge expressing the hope he may soon be restored to his former health. The Secretary undertook to do this.
W.Bro. Vaughan P.M. D of C gave notice that he intended to move the following motion at the Lodge to be held on December 30th next. Bro. Matthews I.P.M. seconded :-
That a Past Masters Jewel of the usual pattern and cost be presented to W. Bro. W.N. Blackaby to mark a most successful year of office.
W.Bro. Matthews gave notice that he intended to move the following motion at the Lodge to be held on December 30th next. Seconded by Bro. J.J. Appleton S.W. :-
That a Secretarys Jewel of the usual pattern and cost be presented to Bro. R. King as a token of the Lodges appreciation of his services as Secretary for the past three years.
The following candidates were then proposed as fit and proper persons to be made Freemasons:-

Nothing further being offered for the good of Masonry or this Albert Edward Lodge in particular it was closed in perfect harmony at 7.40 p.m.
