Minutes of 100 Years Ago

February 1912

THIS IS AN EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE ALBERT EDWARD LODGE MEETING HELD AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, LONDON ROAD, CAMBERLEY ON WEDNESDAY 28th FEBRUARY 1912

PRESENT WERE 13 OFFICERS ( including WM A. Gamble )
  14 MEMBERS
  2 VISITORS

 

The lodge was opened in due form after solemn prayer at 6.0 p.m.

The Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed by the brethren present.

A ballot was next taken on behalf of Mr. Charles Henry Morris, who had been regularly proposed and seconded as a fit and proper person to be made a mason. At the conclusion of the ballot it was found to be unanimous in his favour.

Mr. Morris was then introduced to the lodge as the candidate properly prepared to be made a mason and was then duly initiated into the ancient mysteries and privileges of the order. The ceremony being ably rendered by the W.M. W. Bro. A. Gamble, who also gave in an impressive manner the charge of this degree. The newly made brother then retired.

W. Bro. Vaughan I.P.M. then assumed the gavil and Bros. Kersley & Carter were called to the pedestal and after they had given proof of progress in the science were then entrusted with the P.G. & P.W. leading from the first to the 2nd degree. They then retired to be prepared for the ceremony.

The lodge was then advanced to the 2nd degree & Bros. Kersley & Carter were re- admitted and passed to the degree of F.C. the ceremony being ably rendered by W.Bro. Vaughan P.M. The F.C. then retired and W. Bro. G. Baskett P.M. assumed the gavil and Bro. A. Ricketts was then called to the Pedestal and after giving proof of the progress he had made in the science was then entrusted with the P.G. & P.W. leading from the 2nd to the 3rd degree. He then retired to be prepared for the ceremony.

The lodge was then advanced to the 3rd degree and Bro. Ricketts was re-admitted and raised to the sublime degree of a M.M. The ceremony of raising being impressively rendered by W. Bro. Baskett P.M.

The W.M. then re-assumed the gavil and the lodge was lowered to the 1st degree. Bro. H. Moss was then presented with his G.L. certificate.

The following candidates were then proposed as fit and proper persons to become freemasons :

Age 41 years

Proposed by Bro. J. Stallwood – seconded by Bro. J.J. Appleton

Mr. Harold Latham
Age 25 years
Manager to Messrs. R. Dickinson & Co.
Blackdown, Frimley
Proposed by Bro. A. Stott – seconded by Bro. R. King

Apologies for non-attendance were received from several brethren.

All business being ended, the lodge was closed in perfect harmony at 8.50 p.m.
