Minutes of 100 Years Ago

An Extract of the minutes of the meeting held 100 years ago is read out in Lodge at every meeting. You can read them at your leisure here:

THIS IS AN EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE ALBERT EDWARD LODGE MEETING HELD AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, LONDON ROAD, CAMBERLEY ON WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 24th 1915

 

PRESENT WERE:                 11 Officers ( including W/M W/Bro. J.J. Appleton

MEMBERS:                             10

VISITORS:                               1

 

The Lodge was opened in due form after solemn prayer at   6.10 p.m.

The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed by the brethren present.

Mr. George Compton, who had been balloted for at the last regular meeting , was then introduced to the Lodge as a candidate, properly prepared to be made a Mason and was duly initiated into the ancient mysteries and privileges of Freemasonry. The ceremony being ably rendered by the W/M   W/Bro. J.J. Appleton. The newly made Brother then received the charge of this degree rendered in an impressive manner by Bro. G.H. Richardson S.W.

W.Bro. W.H. Blackaby I.P.M. then assumed the gavel and the Lodge was advanced to the 2nd. Degree, when Bros. Taylor & Lilley were called to the pedestal and after having given proof of the progress they had made in the Science, were entrusted with the P.G. & P.W, leading from the 2nd to the 3rd Degree.   They then retired to be prepared for the ceremony of raising.

The Lodge was now advanced to the 3rd. Degree, when Bros. Taylor & Lilley were re-admitted, properly prepared and raised to the sublime degree of a M.M. The ceremony being impressively rendered by W/Bro. W.H. Blackaby   I.P.M.

The W/M then re-assumed the gavel and lowered the Lodge to the 1st Degree.

The Secretary read a letter which he had received from Mrs. Summer, widow of the late Bro. H. Summer, asking for the Lodge support for an application she was making for a Masonic Annuity. The Secretary was requested to acknowledge the letter and state that upon receiving the necessary forms the same would be duly filled in and supported by the Lodge.

The following candidate was then proposed as a fit and proper person to become a Freemason:-

Fleet, Hants

Proposed by W. Bro. Vaughan P.M.   Seconded by Bro. P.W. White

Apologies for non-attendance were received from Four Brethren

Nothing further being offered for the good of Freemasonry in general or this Lodge in particular, it was closed in perfect harmony at 8.35 p.m.
