October 1915

THIS IS AN EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE ALBERT EDWARD LODGE
MEETING HELD AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS, LONDON ROAD, CAMBERLEY
ON WEDNESDAY 27th OCTOBER 1915
PRESENT WERE; 8 Officers including W/M/ W/Bro. J.J. Appleton
MEMBERS: 14
VISITORS; 4
The lodge was opened in due form after solemn prayer at 6.15 p.m.
Before the minutes were read, the W/M referred to the great loss our Province – and Freemasonry in general – had sustained by the death of our beloved Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Sir Thomas Bucknill. The Brethren were requested to rise as a token of respect.
The minutes of the last regular meeting were then read, confirmed and signed by the Brethren present.
Mr. Henry Richard Gibbs who had been regularly proposed. seconded and balloted for at the previous meeting, was next introduced to the lodge as a candidate properly prepared to be made a Mason and was duly initiated into the Ancient Mysteries and Privileges of Freemasonry. The ceremony being very ably rendered by the W.M. W.Bro. J.J. Appleton
The charge of this degree was given by Bro. R. King, J.W in a very impressive manner.
Bros. G. Wheelwright, A. Nelson and W.H. Pease were then presented with their Grand Lodge Certificates.
The Secretary then read the bye-laws of the Lodge.
Letters were read from Lady Bucknill, Bro. Alfred Bucknill and W.Bro. J.D. Langton, Deputy Prov. Grand Master
Bro. R. King JW gave notice that he intended to move the following notice of motion at the Lodge to be held on November 24th. that the sum of 10 Guineas be given from the Lodge account to the fund being raised for the provision of a Masonic Nursing Home.
Apologies for non-attendance were received from 4 Brethren.
Nothing further being offered for the good of Freemasonry in general or this Lodge in particular it was closed in perfect harmony at 7.55 p.m.
